The Principle for Hot Bending Glass

The hot bending glass is made by heating and softening flat glass. Due to its beautiful and diverse style, it is widely used in solar energy, construction, automotive, bath, furniture and household appliances.
The Principle for Hot Bending Glass
General glass moulds for hot bending glass have positive radian in U type. This mould requires no external force and local heating. Flat glass is placed on the mould and then heated and softened in the bending furnace. Glass achieves the designed curved surface by its own gravity.

The production of this kind of mould is simple. The glass is completely by its own gravity. When the glass plate is big, the stress is concentrated in the middle under its own gravity since the intermediate is hanging. The uneven stress may cause the burst of glass. For glass products with complex radian changes, the glass mould cannot meet the requirements and the moulding of glass requires external force.

For the front windshield glass with flat intermediate and warping ends, especially the complex curved glass for the bus and container truck, the moulding of the glass requires external force. This type of glass mould is composed of wings, hinges, counterweight, chassis and frame.

The flat glass is placed in the mould. The wing of the mould is pressed down by its own gravity. The counterweight arm is driven by the wing and then the counterweight is lifted. When glass is heated gradually, the counterweight falls under gravity. The mould wings move slowly upward driven by the counterweight arm and both sides of the glass is lifted. When the mould wing reaches a predetermined position, stop at the limiting device. In this case, the glass is completely consistent in the mould, so as to achieve the purpose of forming.

The glass is formed by hammer fall driving the mould wings. It can meet the requirements of the glass products with complex shapes. However, the wing and the mold are connected by a hinge. The glass in the slow heating process will not soon reach the softening point. When it is heated to soften but has not yet been softened, the hinge joints become stress concentration points. The traces of mold will be left on the glass surface. And it will inevitably produce folds which can cause optical distortion phenomenon and greatly influence the optical performance of glass.

Glass mould brick from Zhengzhou Sunrise Refractory Co., Ltd. is fired under the temperature of 1050 Degree, which ensures no distortion and no permanent linear change on the Brick. No crack even chap would be happening after long service of the Glass Mould Brick.
