The Burst of Hot Bending Glass in the Furnace

Burst is one of the common problems during the hot bending process. This problem can be analyzed from the following aspects.

1) Check whether the glass has bombing mouth and explosive sides before it is put into the furnace. When cutting and grinding, there are requirements for the glass as the followings: 

a. No nudity side when grinding. When there are small missing corners, if it is not obvious after repaired, then they must be repaired;

b. Large missing corners that cannot be repaired are not permitted;

c. The cut edge interface should be smooth and pimple and projection are not permitted. 

 

2) The roll is used during the molding of glass when producing some products with large radius of curvature, since the glass cannot completely meet the requirements of the spherical and curvature by relying on gravity. Roll should be wrapped entirely with glass cloth. When in direct contact with glass, the bare mental may cause the burst of glass in the furnace. In addition, if there are water stains or drops of water adhered to the glass cloth of the roll, it can also cause the burst of glass when pressing the glass. 

3) When using hollow mold, since there is no support for the middle of glass before put into the furnace, especially when the glass has a large size, it will be easy to burst in the furnace. Therefore, when using hollow mold, the middle of the glass must be supported.

4) When the temperature rises too fast, it easily leads to uneven heating of glass and the burst of glass. 

5) When the external force that assists the molding of glass is too big, it will result in the glass burst. For some products with large radius of curvature, the glass must rely on an auxiliary force to fit into a mold. However, the operator should be understood that the glass should be shaped mainly by adjusting the temperature to meet the requirements.
