Applicable areas and characteristics of refractory castables

Refractory castables are used in a wide range of applications and materials and binders can be selected depending on the conditions of use. It can be directly cast into a lining, or it can be made into a precast block by pouring or compacting. It is suitable for high temperature areas with small friction, such as boiler bottom air chamber, primary air duct, return riser (material leg), tail flue furnace wall, cold slag machine, filling of each furnace door, etc. It has certain viscoplasticity, good casting performance, good anti-flaking property, good volume stability during long-term use, and is suitable for use in various parts of the heating furnace.
 
The degree of refractoriness refers to the refractory castable cone sample that counteracts the high temperature effect without softening the melted temperature in the absence of load. The refractory castables are accompanied by high temperature skills, which originated in the middle of the Bronze Age. In the Eastern Han Dynasty of China, clay refractory castables have been used as kiln and enamel for burning porcelain.
Acidic refractory castables use silicon as an important component, and silica bricks and clay bricks are commonly used. Silica brick is a siliceous product containing more than 93% of silicon compound. The raw materials used are silica, waste silicon brick, etc. The acid slag has strong corrosion resistance, the load is softened and the temperature is high, and the volume does not shrink after repeated calcination, and even slightly expands; However, it is susceptible to corrosion by alkaline slag and has poor thermal shock resistance.
 
Neutral refractory castables contain aluminum, chromium or carbon as an important component. More than 95% of the corundum containing aluminum alloy is a high-quality refractory castable with a wide function. Chromium bricks with chromium as an important component have good corrosion resistance to steel slag, but have poor thermal shock resistance and low temperature at high temperature load.
 
Alkaline refractory castables contain magnesium and calcium as important components, and magnesium bricks are commonly used. Magnesia bricks containing more than 80% to 85% of magnesium in combination have very good resistance to alkaline slag and iron slag, and have higher refractoriness than clay bricks and silica bricks.
